Approaches and Methods

Making sure that the support you receive is truly useful is extremely important to me, and so all of my modalities are 100% evidenced based, and include strategies from EFIT, CBT, ACT, CPT, and  MBSR (it’s a lot of acronyms, but you can learn more about what these are and how they work below!)

My approach to therapy is educational and authentic, offering you tools and emotional space to process your experience, make informed decisions, and move forward with clarity and strength.

Therapy offers a place to explore repair, and regain a sense of control in a situation where control feels nearly impossible.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking and learning to recognize cognitive distortions. It operates from a belief that changing how we think about things directly impacts how we feel.  We’ll work to identify and transform negative thought patterns while developing effective coping strategies to navigate the emotional challenges of your  journey.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

In ACT, we work on making space for painful thoughts and feelings, learning how to live alongside grief, fear, or disappointment without being consumed by them. A central component of ACT is creating a life that has moments of peace, joy and meaning even amidst sadness and uncertainty.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is an evidenced based trauma therapy. Failed cycles, pregnancy loss, TMFR,   medical trauma, and loss of agency, can all cause distressing thoughts and beliefs about oneself and about the future. CPT aims to help clients both make sense of their experiences, identify negative beliefs, and create an alternative narrative that is both more balanced and more accurate.

Self Compassion

Self Compassion has three core components: Mindfulness, Self-Kindness, and Common Humanity. This combination of being in the present moment, treating ourselves with kindness, and recognizing the universality of human suffering reduces isolation, overwhelm, and self criticism.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT  is an attachment focused therapy and can be used to help navigate core feelings and attachment needs that arise during infertility treatment. Infertility can bring up all kinds of emotions related to loneliness, disconnection, and feelings around self worth. EFT focuses on increasing connection, understanding our needs, strengthening emotional awareness and building self compassion. EFT is also a great tool for couples who are struggling with how best to support one another.
